12-year Steven Lamb wants to know what happened to his uncle Billy, who disappeared when he (the uncle) was 11. So he writes a letter to the man suspected of killing Billy, Arnold Avery. This man has been convicted to a life long prison sentence for abusing and killing at least 6 young children. They engage in a correspondence that leads to an overwhelming apotheosis. I had to stop reading more than once, the tension was almost killing me!
An unsettling thriller, written from the perspective of both the boy and the serial killer. Great book!
